Feedback relating to We Can Grow:

 

As Doncaster Behaviour PRU, we had to choose carefully from the scheme on offer via Opportunity Area Funding. Initially We Can Grow seemed like a little bit of a gamble – would our teenagers really grow vegetables? The answer is quite simply a resounding YES!

The partnership between We Can Grow and Levett has been beyond what any of us ever imagined. Our l;earners have been engaged and they have genuinely looked forward to each week. A child getting out of their taxi at the PRU and picking a carrot or spring onion from our beautiful planters to eat as they walk into the building is an amazing sight.

We can grow worked because they adapted so well to the ever-changing needs of our learners. Nothing was too much trouble and any barriers to progress were quickly overcome. The gentle warmth shown to our children was received with smiles and a willingness to try new things such as digging in compost with your hands or tasting new foods. As a result of the huge success we plan to develop our work with We Can Grow Ltd further – a seed has literally been planted.

We know that our learners can continue in this journey and we aim to delivers qualifications in the future. As Levett moves forward, we will have children who can grow and cook their own food. This is a suitable project, encouraging children to learn essential life skills, healthy living, confidence and a sense of self-worth.
